Happy (early) Mother's Day!

We celebrated Mother's Day today!
We decided to honor the holiday early because my graduation is the day before the actual Mother's Day.  So...we figured the family would have had enough celebrating that Sunday.  Today we had a big breakfast out with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and of course, my mom.

She is always such a wonderful guiding force in my life.
I love you, mom.
You're the best.

Packing Up

This week is all about packing up.  Taking down, folding, stuffing, organizing, anything to clear out my belongings and have them ready to be driven home.  It's been kind of a slow but steady process which has been nice.  I just work at it here and there when I have time.  I started with the twinkle lights, today I've been working on the closet, and soon I'll be emptying out the desk!
I sometimes wonder where all these^^ are going to go...I was blessed with a large closet even if everything else was small. ;)  I wish I could take some of that space with me.  I'm sure it will all fit when I get back, right? I hope so...it has to! haha!

Anyway, I'll leave you with a picture of my odd assortment of shoes and a wish for a happy rest of the week!

Days of summer

I was driving today and saw this. Not only did it make me smile, but it also reminded me that summer is not too far off.  Warmer, longer days are ahead.  As are blue skies, cookouts, fireflies, and dogs who like to ride in trucks.  It all screams "summer!" to me, just like when I pulled up behind this truck this morning.

Sometimes it's the funniest things that speak of changing seasons to me.

Weekend

Spenser looks scared but he wasn't, I swear!  The food was delicious at Fair Grounds Coffee House.  And pretty healthy too!  It even tasted healthy (you know, where you don't feel like you just ate everything in sight that maybe you shouldn't have?  That rarely happens for me and a breakfast out. I'm looking at you, Ihop. ;) ) They try to use as many locally grown, organic ingredients as possible.

We'd recommend it!
After breakfast today, we stumbled upon a bike race downtown and spent a good portion of the morning watching it.  Even when we were done watching it, it was hard to avoid; it took up most of the main streets.  Always inspiring to see cyclists.  Also, saw these pretty flowers while walking about.
Pit stop at this funky sculpture on our walk home.  It has maze-like engravings covering it and is shaped similarily to a brain.  Therefore, it has garnered the nickname "The Brain".  And that's the reason I'm goofily knocking on my head in the first picture.  I'm not just being dorky, even though I am.
Signs of spring/summer!! Blossoms!^^

Hope your weekend was happy!

twinkle lights

The other day, one strand of my twinkle lights burned out and I realized it was probably time to take them down.  This wouldn't be a big deal if not for the accompanying truth that I'm going to be out of here soon.  That means not only can I take down my twinkle lights, but I can go ahead and pack up the rest of my things too.  (Which I did start the other day for anyone who's wondering.)

For good.  Pack up for good.
I graduate in two weeks.  The end is really here and instead of having a feeling of finality, I am left in disbelief.  Maybe subconsciously it's in there somewhere, but to me it just feels like the end of any other year.  (I have to walk across a stage in a gown soon? what?)

I suppose the ironic part is that this is what I've worked so hard for.  It's finally within reach.
But for now, I'm going to push all of that to the side and enjoy the magical glow of the lights for one last evening.
