This Weekend

this weekend I saw:

trees in sweaters.
an old kodak brownie.*
a pretty bicycle.
a couple crossing the street on a blustery day.

*The brownie was the first camera that really popularized casual, everyday photography.  Brownies were sold affordably for a dollar.  Then, once you shot your photos, you'd send it in to kodak who would develop the film and send it back restocked for more shooting.  Now here's the best part:  So this camera is being distributed to homes all over the nation...what are they taking pictures of?  Their feet!  It's true! Pictures facing downwards at one's own feet were one of the most popular types of brownie photos.

P.S.
^^I also saw the cutest wookie onesie.^^
So if you know anyone who is a total nerd and
needs some adorable clothes for their little one, let me know. ;)

Happy Sunday! xo

bits of our saturday

We started out the morning with crepes from Crepes de Luxe, a place we found last fall.  I don't think there's a better way to start out the morning really.  Then, we walked around, went window shopping, and explored Barnes & Noble.  While we were in B&N, we found The Brick Bible, a book that depicts the bible in legos.  That's right.  We got a kick out of it!  We especially liked the representation of God using his powers (see photo). J

Later in the evening we went to the movies.  The theatre was in a mall, so we decided to get dinner at the food court.  The lines were loooong everywhere, therefore we split up the waiting.  I was in charge of tickets and Spenser was in charge of Panda Express.  Amazingly I was done first, so I watched a boys' hockey game for a bit.

We saw two movies that night!  First up was Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace in 3D.  We were psyched!  Our favorite part was the pod-racing by far.  It was exciting in 3D to be zooming through Tatooine with Anakin.

After Star Wars, we went to The Vow.  I know, I know, how incurable romantic of me.  I did think it had a thought-provoking concept of whether you would make the same choices if you had the chance to do it over again.  Also, during the previews before The Vow our two favorite droids showed up-C3PO and R2D2!  They were in a PSA for Variety Children's Charity.  How much more lovable can they get? (Seriously, watch the PSA!)

James Bond, Crepes, and Star Wars

This weekend we got invited to a James Bond Party!  Lacking any proper Bond girl attire, Spenser and I took a quick trip to the mall Friday night (unsuccessfully) and then went thrifting Saturday afternoon.  I ended up finding a black dress at Revival, a trendy vintage/thrift store.  The catch: it was 2 sizes too big and came to mid-shin.  However, it was the perfect style, so after taking in the sides, cinching the back, and hemming it, it became the dress you see above.  *Also, boyfriend helped me hand-sew the hemming with barely any instruction.  I was quite impressed! so proud!

I also introduced Spenser and his roommate, Michael, to pumpkin malts on Saturday.  Both were fans.  Later that night, Michael made the three of us dinner, which was extra special.  Thanks, Mike!!

Sunday morning we stopped at this delightful cafe for breakfast/lunch.  We had been meaning to try it and it was definitely worth it!  We walked around for a bit before heading home and having a mini Star Wars marathon.
