an evening walk

^^I wish I had some cool, inspirational quote to go with that picture, but I don't.  Haha. 

Last night, Spenser and I took some time just to walk up and down the riverfront.  We sat on the barrier walls and just laughed and talked about what we wanted to do this summer.  I love when we can dream and make fun plans together and tease.  I can't tell you how good that felt.  I don't even want to bring this up, but last summer I screwed up various aspects of my life up.  Big time.  And I feel like this summer is going to make up for lost time.  I am so happy to have Spenser by my side.  He has been there all along and has been the best.  I'm still anxious about finding a job and getting into grad school and all of that, but last night it didn't really matter. 

This is my summer.  This is our summer.  I just feel it.

This past weekend we went on a walk and took a few goofy photos with Herky, the University of Iowa mascot.  A mirrored, statue version of him no less.  One time I met the real live mascot and he kissed my hand. Fun story.

An afternoon walk

Today was a beautiful Saturday.  Adele's cousin, Matt, was visiting this weekend, so I thought I'd see if they wanted to bum around for a while.  The three of us went to the village, a quaint area of the city that has specialty shops and restaraunts.  We walked around there and then wandered into some of the surrounding neighborhoods.  Many of the houses in these neighborhoods are older and full of character.  Quite a few also have big, wrap around porches reminiscent of the south.  We envisioned ourselves drinking lemonade or sweet tea on them and looking out over the river.  I wish I had had the nerve to break out my camera, but this was my first time meeting Matt and I can be a bit obnoxious with my camera.  Not that he probably would have minded-it was just a self-conscious thing since I tend to take a lot of pictures.  I actually took the photos above by accident on my phone.  I was trying to answer a text message and instead opened the camera (it was really bright out and I couldn't see. haha.)  After walking through the residential areas, we stopped back at a coffee shop in the village before heading home.  It was so nice just to enjoy the weather and relax.  

 

P.S. Matt is awesome.  I would take him as my cousin. 

In Bloom

   I took a walk with my mom today to enjoy the beautiful weather.  It is definitely spring!  (It felt like summer for a few days there too!)  All the plants and flowers are just starting to bloom-the magnolias, tulips, crab apple trees, lilacs, etc.  And the world outside is very pretty because of it.

Saturday

    

     Spenser had a game this morning, so I took a walk downtown.  It was a little foggy this morning, but still beautiful out.  I loved the houses I encountered along the way.  They had such character to them.  I found a new favorite store and visited one of my old favorite stores.  Then, Spenser met up with me for a late lunch/pre-dinner sushi. 

it was a good day.
