one last round

We went to go see fireworks a third time last night! I guess we just can't get enough.
I think we're done now though.
At least for this year. ;)

and the night lit up...

We went round two on the fireworks last night
and beforehand we had a potluck-cookout sort of a deal.
Both Adele and Becca were a big help bringing a fruit salad and crab pasta salad respectively.

We didn't have to travel too far to see these fireworks.
They were a lot slower and more spaced out than the ones on the fourth, but that's neither here nor there.  Plus, there were some fireworks we had never seen before-such as the last picture. Neat!

celebrating the 4th

We celebrated the fourth of july yesterday by seeing fireworks.  Is there another way to celebrate?  I think not.  We went to a quaint town about a half hour away to see them.  It appeared as if they have been having other celebrations there as well- the sidewalks were painted similarly to Paint the Town

In the evening people let off colored smoke bombs, children were running around in swimsuits, sparklers were being waved in the air.  The river looked absolutely beautiful at dusk.  Once it started getting a little darker, people lit lanterns like the ones that were at Bonnaroo.

We thought the fireworks were really good!  And the finale! Whew! Spenser put on sunglasses for it and I can't blame him.  The sky exploded in a myriad of fireworks!

staying over

This weekend I am staying with a very dear friend of mine.
We laugh and talk and drink diet orange soda for it is a tradition of ours.

She grew up in a house with three sisters and sometimes the remnants of this shows.  The sisterly-ness makes its way into little things-sets of tween book series on the shelf, old prom dresses in the closet, matching comforters, and a doll here and there.  I felt as if I, too, was a sister as climbed into a bed that matched my friend's own last night.
